The Spartanburg Smile For a Lifetime Foundation
The Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, or S4L, exists to give the gift of a smile to underserved, deserving members of the community in the South Carolina counties of Spartanburg and Cherokee. Services to these deserving individuals are provided by orthodontic professionals, including an experienced Spartanburg orthodontist. A person who qualifies for the S4L program is provided with free orthodontic care and treatment.
The organization is a nonprofit, with chapters located in different communities. In addition to the chapter of the organization serving the people of these two South Carolina counties, there are 139 other chapters in 44 U.S. states. The goal is to increase the number to 150 chapters, including chapters in all 50 states. The organization also hopes to start chapters in Canada as well.
A board of directors, comprised primarily of people from the orthodontic profession, exists in each area in which the organization operates. These boards oversee the operation of the program, including fund raising and the recruitment of participating orthodontists.
