Adults who seek a practically-invisible alternative to traditional, metal braces often ask us about Invisalign® clear aligners. No matter what your day holds, Invisalign technology works to straighten your teeth and align your bite while remaining undetectable.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that apply gentle pressure to the teeth to gradually shift them into a healthy alignment. Each set of aligners is custom-made, using precise calculations, to move the teeth one step closer to the desired position.
Every two weeks, you’ll switch your set of aligners out for a new set. During the Invisalign process, you’ll visit our office every eight to ten weeks for our orthodontists to check-in on the progress of your treatment. With each office visit, we will make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan to ensure that you’re on the most efficient track to your ideal smile.
How long does Invisalign take?
As with any orthodontic treatment, your treatment period with Invisalign will vary based on a few factors. Your specific orthodontic condition and your smile goals will play a major role in how long you’ll undergo treatment with Invisalign.
If your current condition is severe, you will require a longer-than-average treatment period. If your condition is minor and doesn’t require considerable correction, your treatment period will fall on the other end of the spectrum.
Most cases can be corrected within six to fifteen months using Invisalign.
Your treatment period will also depend on your diligence in wearing your clear aligners. You are required to wear your aligners for 20 to 23 hours, throughout the day and night. One of the major perks of Invisalign technology is its removability, but this benefit also requires some extra self-discipline on your end.
If you choose not to wear your Invisalign as instructed, you can expect a longer treatment period.
We also offer Invisalign for Teens as another alternative to traditional braces.
